File choice guide
Choose a downloadable 3D model by the evidence you need.
A thumbnail cannot tell you whether you may redistribute a file, whether it opens in a browser, or whether it will slice at your final scale. Image3D keeps those questions separate so a designer, hobbyist, or developer can choose a file without mistaking a preview for a print result.
Start with the job
Choose GLB for a web preview, AR experiment, ecommerce scene, or a browser-friendly textured asset. Choose STL when the next step is a 3D-printing slicer. If you need an exact dimension, tolerance, mating surface, or load-bearing part, use the library only as reference geometry and validate or model the critical dimensions in CAD.
Read the evidence label
glTF validated describes a structured GLB check. Mesh edge screen records the listed topology screen. Slicer tested means a named slicer generated the recorded result. A physical-print claim appears only when that specific result exists. These labels are not interchangeable.
Know when to skip a library file
Skip a generic download when the project depends on precise engineering dimensions, verified food-contact or safety properties, a licensed brand or character, or a tested mechanical fit. For a custom visual draft, start in Image3D Studio; for a print workflow, continue through the Image to STL Generator.

License and redistribution are separate checks
“Commercial use” is not enough for a site to mirror a downloadable file. Image3D rehosts only when digital redistribution is explicitly permitted and keeps a source link on the listing. The current collection uses files with a stated CC0/public-domain basis or equivalent source documentation. Where the source is Poly Haven, its published license terms are linked on the listing.
Use the right channel for the right type of model
The Download Library is a curated supply channel for rights-cleared files. The Community Showcase is separate: user-generated work is opt-in, reviewed, and published only after moderation. If you want help understanding CC0, attribution, and redistribution, read the CC0 3D model license guide.
Print preparation still happens after download
Before a real print, select your target scale and material, inspect layer preview and thin features, decide orientation and supports, and review any repair notices from your slicer. The STL printing checklist explains the final handoff. A clean browser preview is useful evidence, but it is not a substitute for this step.

Questions people ask before downloading a 3D model
Are all downloadable 3D models ready to print?
No. A downloadable STL is not automatically print-ready. Each listing separately states whether it has only a mesh edge screen, a slicer check, or a physical-print result. Run final scale, layer, wall, support, and material checks in your slicer.
What is the difference between an STL and a GLB file?
STL is a simple triangle mesh format commonly opened in 3D-printing slicers. GLB packages a 3D scene, materials, and often textures into one browser-friendly file. Choose STL for slicers and GLB for browser, AR, ecommerce, or scene-preview workflows.
What does source-verified mean on Image3D?
Image3D records the original source page, stated license, and whether digital redistribution is explicitly allowed before rehosting a file. It also records the validation performed on the hosted file instead of treating a thumbnail or commercial-use statement as sufficient evidence.
Can I use a CC0 model commercially?
CC0 is a public-domain dedication intended to allow reuse, including commercial reuse. Still open the source and license linked on the individual listing, and check any non-license restrictions that matter for your use.
What do mesh checked and slicer tested mean?
Mesh checked refers only to the stated file-integrity or edge-count inspection. Slicer tested means a named slicer was able to import and produce the recorded result. Neither label means a physical object was printed unless the listing explicitly says physical print tested.
Where do user-created Image3D models appear?
User submissions belong in the Community Showcase, a separate opt-in and reviewed channel. The downloadable library is for Image3D-owned or individually rights-cleared files with provenance and validation status attached.
